Gokarna Temple

The Mahabaleshwar Temple is the heart of Gokarna Kshetra. It houses what is believed to be the original image of Lord Shiva's linga — the Atmalinga — making Gokarna one of the seven important Hindu pilgrimage centres. Devotees from across India visit the temple to offer prayers to Lord Mahabaleshwara and to perform ancestral rituals such as Moksha Narayana Bali, Tripindi Shraddha and Naga Bali.
